On 8 December 2033, the Catholic Church will inaugurate one of the most extraordinary spiritual events in Christian history: the solemn Opening of the Holy Door at Saint Peter’s Basilica, marking the beginning of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Redemption 2033.
Celebrated on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, this historic event will launch a year of grace commemorating the 2,000th anniversary of the Passion, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus Christ—the central mystery of the Christian faith.
Presided over by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, the ceremony is expected to gather hundreds of thousands of pilgrims, clergy, religious, ecumenical delegates, heads of state, and faithful from every continent in a profound expression of faith, reconciliation, and global Christian unity.
